Warm and Toasty First Sunrise – Black Rock City, Nevada, United States

I ended up off on my own again for the night. I decided to just peddle around and check out the art in and around the playa. I got sidetracked about every 2 minutes and ended up stopping at this part and that. I made friends everywhere I went but stayed solo for most of the night. I made it my business to drive my bike all around the entire playa from one end to the other. I just kept thinking, Man this place is HUGE! And it seems to keep getting bigger! It is true that as the days plotted on, more and more Burners would arrive bringing with them their art cars and crazy costumes. read more

Weather Enforced Heart to Heart Session – Black Rock City, Nevada, United States

I decided that one of my “playa gifts” would be tails. I took one of my favorite blankets from home and spent a few hours cutting it into long soft fuzzy tails to pin on people. I made them meow as I was attaching it to their backsides to make sure they were worthy. Then I gave them special instructions on what to do if they saw someone else with a tail like theirs. There were a few hundred floating around Burning Man by the time I was done handing them all out. All of us with this particular color and pattern of tail are part of the same tribe. read more

Dusty Dirt Devils – Black Rock City, Nevada, United States

James told me about some pyramid type structure that was filled with turf. Green grass in the middle of the desert! I was all over that like white on rice. After getting a little lost, we finally found the place. True enough, as I took off my shoes and ducked into the large tent my barefeet landed upon a spongy, fresh lawn of green grass. read more

Playa Snacks – BRC, Nevada, United States

I decided to eat a little bit snacking on cream cheese and salsa on top of rice cakes. I found this peach and pineapple salsa that was quickly becoming my new favorite. My day was wide open, as it usually is at an event such as this, so I decided to go where the wind took me. read more

Wake up call – Black Rock City, Nevada, United States

Wednesday morning I was shaken awake, literally, by the blockrocken beats of some obnoxious art car. I drearily dragged myself into sitting position pulling out my now useless earplugs. I peeked my head out of the tent to see the sun still quite new on the morning horizon, concluding that it couldn`t be past 7am. I hauled myself out of the sleeping pod giving up on any more chance of slumber. I noticed few other bodies were wandering around as I squinted, searching for the noisy offender.

Hookas and Fire Bazookas – Black Rock City, Nevada, United States

To satiate my intellectual side, I attended a talk on The Art of Deliberate Creation at the HeeBee JeeBee Healers. Stuart accompanied me to listen while on installing LED lights into his costume for that night. I contemplated the 8 step process to focusing intention to accelerate the realizations of your dreams. The speaker was good but ended up forgetting a few of the steps along the way so I think we must have gotten the condensed version. It was really nothing I hadn`t already considered but a nice refresher all the same. read more

Tummy Troubles – BRC, Nevada, United States

I walked into the tent and glanced around at the expectant soulmates being interviewed in quiet corners. I asked how it worked and was presented with a questionnaire to be filled out. I sauntered over to the bar and began the rigorous process of answering the queries. It was much like one of these “Get to know me” emails that show up in my inbox occasionally. When I was done revealing my not so deepest secrets, I handed in my form and was instructed to wait. read more

Adopting my Gnome – Black Rock City, Nevada, United States

I arrived to Gnome Camp to find that I was just in time to make a gnomedome. I greeted my fellow crafters who were busy cutting, pasting, pinning and decorating their pointy little hats. I chose a pink furry material and cut lavender purple felt into the Burning Man symbol which looks sort of like this: )`( After I pasted it on, I added a few green leaves and stuck a big pink flower on the top. It fit my head alright but I thought it would be helpful to string a thin strap to go under my chin. There would need to be something to secure it from the crazy gusts of wind that are so frequent on the playa. read more

Healing Health Hour – BRC, Nevada, United States

After a short stroll, I wandered out and hopped back on my bike which only took a few minutes to locate in the mess of wheels and steel. I decided to head over to Ascension Tribe where they were hosting an Empowerment/Intention workshop. I wasn`t sure if I should enter as I was a few minutes late but I was kindly ushered in. I slipped off my shoes and parted the curtain to find about 20 people sitting on pillows. I quietly found a spot near the back and made myself comfortable. read more

What to Wear? – BRC, Nevada, United States

I woke feeling refreshed and positive, ready to start my day. I dressed in as least amount of clothes as possible as the sun was already heating the air considerably. Now I understand why people end up wearing lingerie, underwear or nothing. Burning Man is definitely a clothing optional type of festival and many people take full advantage of that. The first few days it would surprise me when I would see a random naked guy riding by on his bike or a woman wearing just a large sunhat strolling by. Then it just became part of the scenery and I barely noticed them. read more
